Writing a letter

There are, as always, rules applicable when writing. This week we'll be writing an informal letter.

Why writing a letter? You can watch this 1 minute long video. Then there are levels you can choose from if you want to read more and/or practice. In an informal letter it's absolutely ok to use short, simple sentences, abbreviations (förkortningar) and contractions (sammandragningar) like: don't, I'll and so on. Slang is also fine, and simpler linkers like then, later.

Otherwise, a letter. in short can fallow rhese rules:

Start with Dear X, or Hi/Hello X
Then start with something like:
Thanks for your letter.
Lovely to hear from you.
How are you?
How are things?
Hope you're well.

Second paragraph:
Anyway, the reason I'm writing ...
I thought I'd write to tell/ask you
Anyway, I was wondering ...

End your letter with:
Regards (probably the best choice)
Well, that's all for now

Write back soon
Looking forward to hearing from you again
All the best
Best wishes
See you soon
Take care
Yours
Love
Lots of love

P.S I stole these examples from this page. There are also some excellent exercises with contractions and paragraphes if you scroll down a bit
